Thornton Creek PTA wants to ensure that people in our community can find the support they need to have a safe and healthy school year. The Family Works Resource Center has a family/community connector who helps families navigate support. All families have to do is come to the South entry between 1:30 – 4pm on Wednesdays. Family Works will help connect SPS families with the services they need.

At the Center, families will be connected to knowledgeable and friendly staff who can assist with:

  • rental assistance applications

  • enrollment in public benefits

  • navigating a vast network of community resources

  • clothing & shoes

  • free diapers, books and toys

  • weekly groceries at its food bank, available through its Wallingford location: 1501 N. 45th Street, Seattle.

  • connecting families within their community by offering multilingual playgroups, parent support networks, and other enrichment activities for families.

  • services are offered in English, Spanish, and Somali.

Seattle Relief Fund - Application Open through Nov 15, 2021

  • The Seattle Relief Fund is $16 million of funding for direct cash assistance to Seattle’s most vulnerable low-income residents and their households who have been impacted by the COVID-19 crisis. This is direct cash assistance to Seattle Families (SPS Families, Seattle Promise, Artists) for those living below 50% of the median household income. If barriers such as language or computer access exist, there are community partners who can support the application process. Awards range $1,000 - $3,000 depending on household size. Applications are open through Mon, Nov 15. Applications will be reviewed from Nov 16 - 29, decisions made from Nov 29 - Dec 6, and payments sent after Dec 9, 2021.
