Collective Advocacy
When you become an annual member of the TC PTA, you join the oldest and largest child advocacy association in America, with more than 4 million US parents, teachers and community members collaborating to create positive environments for ALL children. This nationwide network provides parent and teacher members a forum and tools to collectively influence the decisions that affect children not only at Thornton Creek, but also throughout our district, within our state, and across the nation.
BENEFITS
By simply joining the TC PTA, you are adding your voice to the larger PTA community and helping to foster:
Positive environments where all our young people and families can thrive
Inclusive and equitable systems in our school and wider community
Strong, meaningful community connections and support systems
Your membership also:
Allows you to vote at our TC PTA general meetings
Gives you access to city, state and national PTA events, workshops and conferences throughout the year
Community Justice FUND
TC PTA pays $11.50 in Regional, State and National PTA fees for each membership. Any excess funds we collect via memberships or donations are used to:
Supplement our community pantry
Redistribute to indigenous and youth-led BIPOC organizations
Assist local PTAs with immediate community needs
Contribute towards professional development opportunities around race and equity
Support our annual operating expenses
Each year, our annual membership actively participates in identifying where our additional funds are redistributed within our Community Justice Fund. In the fall of 2020 we made our first payment to the Real Rent campaign in support of the Duwamish Tribe, and contributed to the local chapter of the NAACP Youth Council. If you would like to further the financial reach of our Community Justice Fund, please use the link below to support our work through a direct donation. Questions? Send us a note at hello@tc-pta.org
