Thornton Creek PTA would like to recognize the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Coast Salish people, on which we are organizing, learning, and reflecting. We gather together with the common goal of creating an open, safe space to discuss issues important to all families in our community. Issues including equity in education, social justice, environmental justice and student advocacy. Thornton Creek PTA honors the land of the Duwamish tribe and acknowledges the Duwamish people as the past, present, and future caretakers of this land. In addition, Thornton Creek PTA stands in solidarity with the First Peoples of this land by paying Real Rent in support of maintaining the vitality of the Duwamish Tribe.

We are the Thornton Creek Elementary School equity-based PTA from the unceded territory of the Duwamish and Coast Salish region in NE Seattle, and we are proud to be Real Renters.
In the Fall of 2020 TC PTA made our first payment to Real Rent Duwamish in recognition of the indigenous peoples who inhabited and cared for these lands before us. Each school year, we budget to participate in this opportunity to redistribute resources to the Duwamish Tribe who continue to call for the restoration of their treaty rights.
